As Victory Christian Fellowship Church, we believe: -
The dedication of children is a presentation of a child to God, and therefore establishes a covenant between God and parents (Mark 10:13).
Child dedication is therefore an act of obedience by parents to offer their babies to the Lord Jesus Christ (Mark 10:14).
Through this time of dedication of the Child, the parent(s) declare that God has given them the gift of life, and that God makes a claim on the lives of their children starting with their infancy (Psalms 127:3).
God promises blessings and protection to the child whose parents are faithful to raise her/him in the services of the Lord (Mark 10:16).
During dedication, the parent makes a public commitment to faithfully raise the child in the Christian faith. This will require maintaining consistency in Christian discipline, morals, ethics and faith (Deuteronomy 6:5-7; Deuteronomy 30:6; John 1:13, 16–18)
During dedication, the parent commits that they are willing to partner with God and the church to raise their child in co-operation with God's intentions and for God’s work (Ephesians 6:14).
By the prayer of dedication by the Pastor, where possible, while holding the baby in his/her arms, such a child is made holy and is welcomed to the church as part of the covenant family of God.
A child that is dedicated in church is raised until he/she reaches the age of accountability, whereupon he/she becomes an individual before God and is commanded to repent (Mathew 18:3; Psalms 34:11; Isaiah 54:13; Matthew 19:14, Mark 10:12-16; Luke 18:15-16,17; 1 Corinthians 7:14).
